In the past few seconds, trade rumors have seriously intensified between the Montreal Canadiens and the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Tampa Bay has just traded Vladislav Namestnikov in exchange for Michael Eyssimont (who makes $750,000) to urgently free up space under the salary cap.

See what a Tampa Bay media outlet has just reported.

"It is said that Lightning management wants to use the freed-up space to acquire a defenseman. They have been seriously linked to Joel Edmundson.

Stay tuned."

Lightning Insider

Clearly, with trades raining down on the NHL and buyers being very aggressive, Kent Hughes wants in on the action.

Even if we don't see it concretely, you should know that things are getting busy in the Montreal Canadiens' offices, and a trade could be announced at any minute.

Hughes is on the phone right now.

On the Tampa Bay side, they have clearly shown that they are not afraid to trade draft picks and pay to get established players.

Edmundson, 29, has 6 points in 39 games this season. He's earning $3.5 million through 2024 and is close to a return to action (probably as soon as tomorrow).

More details to follow!
