Five available goalies for the Canadiens are revealed, including two surprises

While Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton are already busy putting everything in place to improve the team for next season, here is a very interesting list of the five best goalkeepers who will be available for the Canadiens.

These are five goalies who could be very interesting additions to Samuel Montembeault, and who will be free agents this summer.

1- Frederik Andersen

Here we are talking about a 33-year-old goalie , 6 feet 4 inches and 240 pounds, with a career save percentage of .915 in the NHL, which is very solid. He won 21 of his 31 starts this season and he will be free as a bird this summer.

2- Tristan Jarry

A 27-year-old goalie who was supposed to be the long-term future goaltender for the Pittsburgh Penguins but had ups and downs (especially in playoffs). He has a career save percentage of .914 in the NHL, and .910 this season in Pittsburgh. (Record of 117-60-20)

3- Joonas Korpisalo

Certainly the hottest goalie on this list right now. He is very agile, especially for his 6 feet 3 inches, and he is 28 years old. Korpisalo has been dominant with the Los Angeles Kings since the trade deadline. (Save percentage of .921, average of 2.13, and a record of 7-3-1)

4- MacKenzie Blackwood

Certainly the one with the most immense potential on this list. He is 26 years old, 6 feet 4 inches, and 225 pounds, and he was seen a few years ago as a future NHL star goaltender. Before being hit by injuries, this was a 21-year-old goalkeeper who was close to .920 save percentage in the NHL, behind a very average team.

5- Semyon Varlamov

Finally, we are talking about a 34-year-old goalie who maintained a .913 save percentage this season with the New York Islanders. He has been extremely consistent throughout his career.

Which one would you target, if you were the GM of the Montreal Canadiens?

According to us, the two very interesting names on this list are Blackwood and Korpisalo.

It is a surprise to see that they will be free as a bird this summer! Kent Hughes could simply sign them without giving anything in return.
