This is obviously the biggest file at the Montreal Canadiens for Kent Hughes, but it is also becoming more and more a big file in the NHL as a whole.
The majority of the NHL's top insiders are on the case, and there is a lot of smoke in this file.
We are obviously talking here about the upcoming trade of one of the three CH goalies. In the last few hours, it's especially the name of Jake Allen that's been circulating a lot.
On Tony Marinaro's podcast, it was the turn of the renowned Craig Button to chat about it, and he confirmed that Jake Allen would indeed be a perfect acquisition, via trade, for the Oilers.
We repeat, but it is major to note here that this does not come from a journalist who covers the Montreal Canadiens. It really starts to be talked about everywhere in the NHL and elsewhere.
Button was asked this: "If you were GM of the Oilers, which goalie, among all those in the NHL and other leagues in the world, would be your number one target to acquire? Which goalie would be your #1 target, for the Oilers?"
And here is his answer.
"It's certain that I think young goalies like Yaroslav Askarov, Dustin Wolf, and Jesper Wallstedt can be starting goalies one day, but the Oilers can't take a chance with a young goalie right now.
They don't have the luxury of waiting. [...] Teams don't want to trade #1 goalies, so they need more of a good goalie who can help and support Stuart Skinner, and I've been saying this from the start, I really believe Jake Allen is that goalie!
Jake Allen would be the best goalie to acquire today for the Oilers, he would be perfect for them. If I am Ken Holland, I want no other goalie than Jake Allen." - Craig Button Wow, that's clear enough. Very interesting.

This confirms exactly what we thought.
