Wiebe has been closely covering the Winnipeg Jets since the beginning and has excellent contacts within the organization. We can trust him.
For the past few days, solid sources have been stating that the Los Angeles executives are very serious and very aggressive in acquiring Pierre-Luc Dubois, including Elliotte Friedman, and they obviously seem to be correct.
According to Wiebe, this is what the Kings' final trade offer for Dubois would look like:
- A promising young forward, named Quinton Byfield or Gabe Vilardi
- Plus possibly the young defenseman Sean Durzi, whom the Kings could seriously decide to add.
Yikes! If this is confirmed, it will be practically impossible for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens to beat this offer.
Then they would have to include Kirby Dach, and possibly Jordan Harris, which clearly won't happen.
It remains to be seen whether Dubois will accept, or not, to sign an eight-year contract in Los Angeles, but if the answer is yes, we unfortunately have to expect that after all this, the Quebecois forward will slip through the Habs' fingers.
