Kent Hughes, the GM of the Montreal Canadiens, is looking like a genius right now with a transaction he made last summer.
Indeed, Kirby Dach is currently Hughes' best acquisition on the trade market; in fact, he had to make two trades to get him.
With 13 goals, 23 assists and 36 points in 55 games, Dach makes this trade even more important. His progression has been absolutely fantastic. To find this kind of center on the market, that is to say 6'4 and 205 lbs, is in the realm of the impossible! And Dach is only 22 years old.
You have to wonder what Chicago's GM was thinking by trading a player like Dach. In hindsight, this three-team deal looks especially bad for the Windy City. As if that wasn't enough, the Tricolor had been looking for a center of this stature for the last 20 years or so. We'll have to start talking about Hughes as one of the best GMs in the game.
