It's practically become a "running gag" among the fans and experts of the Montreal Canadiens, but we know that Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton seem to be big fans of the 2019 draft.
From this class, they acquired Kirby Dach, they have been linked to Trevor Zegras, they tried to draft the next Moritz Seider, they acquired Alex Newhook, and they have been linked notably to Raphael Lavoie and Jakob Pelletier.
In short, this is a major twist in the trade market.
So, another player drafted in 2019 becomes available, and it's serious because it comes from the reputable Darren Dreger.
Dreger on Insider Trading: «Multiple sources have said Drury is taking calls on Kakko, now losing Chytil for the remainder of the season is a big blow for the Rangers, but NYR has cap space and potentially the assets like Kakko to acquire a significant piece."
So, it's a very intriguing name that arrives on the trade market.
This will be a great opportunity for Kent Hughes to negotiate to possibly acquire Kaapo Kakko if there is a feasible agreement.
We know they really like Sean Monahan, but who else?
Knowing that he has just been put on the market, what would you give for Kakko?
Only 22 years old, he was the 2nd overall pick in the 2019 draft. Selected one rank behind Jack Hughes and one rank ahead of Kirby Dach, Kakko has accumulated 104 points (49 goals) in 267 career NHL games.
