New winger to complete Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki: a young Quebecer about to be free as air?

National Hockey League teams have until June 30th to submit qualifying offers to restricted free agents, and if these players do not receive an offer, they will become free as air on July 1st.

As reported by Alexandre Desrosiers of Rumeursdetransaction.com, the excellent informer Frank Seravalli from the Daily Faceoff has compiled a list of restricted free agents who may not receive a qualifying offer from their respective teams.

This list includes Montreal Canadiens forward Denis Gurianov, as well as Maxime Comtois from the Anaheim Ducks.

According to Seravalli, it would be quite surprising if the Ducks made an offer to the Quebec forward, as he earned 2.4 million dollars this season and his low score of 19 points in 65 games does not justify a new contract, especially considering his struggles in Anaheim over the past two years.

Could the Canadiens be interested in his services?

Should Kent Hughes lose Pierre-Luc Dubois in the coming weeks, Comtois could be a good catch for Kent Hughes.

Even though he has had difficulties over the past two seasons, he should not cost too much and could very well play alongside Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield.

With his imposing size, he might be a good complement to the two best attackers of the Canadiens and a change of scenery could be beneficial for the Ducks' forward.

We remember a certain Kirby Dach who went through this and after being paired with Caufield and Suzuki, his career took a different direction.

Well, I'm not saying that Comtois will become a 40-goal scorer either, but the risk could prove interesting for Kent Hughes. He is only 24 years old.

For now, he is still part of the Californian organization, but it will be interesting to follow this case in the coming weeks.
