This time, Stock posted a simple message that says what everyone is thinking out loud about Auston Matthews:
Of course, ever since the Maple Leafs' star signed his contract extension for only five years, which would lead him into the first year of his full free agency, everyone thinks he's going to return to the Phoenix area. If the Maple Leafs don't want to lose him for nothing, much like their current captain did with the Islanders, Kyle Dubas will need to make a move and hope for a lucrative return.
In 481 NHL games, Matthews has amassed a total of 542 points, including 299 goals. Over the years, he is now recognized as one of the league's top scorers, but also as a very good all-around center who plays well in all three zones.
Even though the Leafs haven't had playoff success, Auston has gathered 44 points in 50 postseason games.
Following another disappointing playoff exit, during which he scored no goals in the series against Florida, numerous rumors are likely to surface.
Perhaps a high-pressure market like Toronto is too much for him to handle. Returning to his hometown in Arizona might be a more suitable option for him.
