Pierre-Luc Dubois Trade: Juraj Slafkovsky and Logan Mailloux have just been brought into the discussion
In the context of his recent piece in the Journal de Québec, former Montreal Canadiens goalkeeper, Jose Theodore, brought new names into the discussion for a trade with the Winnipeg Jets involving Pierre-Luc Dubois, and let's just say it's not unanimous.
See the excerpt in question:
"As much as Marc Bergevin defined his reign by obtaining Shea Weber for P.K. Subban, as much Hughes could define his own with the acquisition of Dubois. I think we know what to expect from Dubois. He is a sure value, but his price must be fair.
It's certain that for Dubois, it's going to cost youth and probably one of the two first-round picks in the first round. We could also see a player like Juraj Slafkovsky or Kaiden Guhle leave for Winnipeg and also a prospect like Logan Mailloux. As for Suzuki and Caufield, they are here to stay."
- Jose Theodore At the same time, he's probably not wrong, unfortunately.
Especially if the Los Angeles Kings offer players like Quinton Byfield and Gabe Vilardi, Kent Hughes will never be able to acquire a player like Dubois by offering Josh Anderson and Christian Dvorak.
Knowing that they can't include Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Kirby Dach in the trade, the Jets will want players like Juraj Slafkovsky, Kaiden Guhle, or Logan Mailloux.
At this price, would you do it?
For Juraj Slafkovsky and Kaiden Guhle, we imagine that Kent Hughes will not want to know anything, but at some point, to receive, you have to give. (especially knowing that Dubois will not be available next summer)
He wants to sign an 8-year contract as early as this summer.
So, knowing all this, would you let Logan Mailloux, Christian Dvorak, and the Panthers' 1st round pick go to acquire Dubois? That's likely to be a minimum.
