The verdict has just come down regarding the young Filip Zadina: Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens have officially chosen to ignore him
The verdict has just been announced.
Filip Zadina was ultimately not claimed in the NHL waivers. Wow.
That's a big surprise and there is certainly something wrong. Many experts are extremely surprised by this verdict and it undoubtedly raises a big red flag.
Let's indeed remember that yesterday, the Detroit Red Wings placed Zadina on the NHL waivers.
We're talking about a 23-year-old player who was compared to David Pastrnak in his draft year.
Zadina, a 6th overall pick in 2018, has collected 68 points (28 goals) in the NHL, along with 17 points (10 goals) in his last 23 AHL games.
Zadina is signed at $1.8 million per season until 2025. He was drafted three spots after a certain Jesperi Kotkaniemi, and many Habs fans wanted Montreal to draft Zadina at the time.
No club wanted to take their chance with Filip Zadina, even for free.
I imagine his 2-season contract at $1,825,000 is part of the reason!
More details will follow.
