Hockey fans have gotten to know goalie Adin Hill quite well over the past few weeks, as he propelled the Vegas Golden Knights to their first Stanley Cup.

He has been absolutely phenomenal in the current playoffs, boasting an average of 2.17 and a save percentage of .932 over 16 games (record of 11-2-2).

Even in the regular season, he was solid (16 wins, 7 losses, average of 2.45, and a save percentage of .917).

A major statement related to the Montreal Canadiens

Speaking of Hill, last night, the Canadiens' former goalie coach, Stéphane Waite, revealed an intriguing detail on 98.5 Sports about the 6-foot-5-inch goalie.

Hill nearly ended up being acquired by the Habs through a trade.

"I believe in this guy's potential, and this dates back to when we were looking for a good backup goalie and he was with the Phoenix Coyotes; Adin Hill was in discussions in Montreal.

In the end, we went with Jake Allen, but Hill was one of the three guys we were talking about because I believed in his talent at the time, especially a 6'4" goalie, I really liked that. We had explored the interest, but it didn't work out on Arizona's side."

Notably, Hill will be an unrestricted free agent and completely free to negotiate in just a few weeks, this summer (UFA).

Could he be of interest to Kent Hughes? After all, he is only 27 years old.

This is certainly a situation to watch.
