The Los Angeles Kings recently made a trade with the Arizona Coyotes that has been deemed as a steal by many. The Coyotes were able to acquire 24-year-old right-handed defenseman Sean Durzi for just a second round draft pick.

Durzi was stocked behind defensemen like Drew Doughty in recent years, but he has still managed to rack up impressive numbers, recording 38 points in 72 games this season and 27 points in 64 games during his rookie season.

Over the course of 82 games since joining the NHL, Durzi has produced at an average rate of 40 points per 82 games; prior to his NHL career he had 16 points in 13 games during his last season in the American Hockey League.

Durzi is a promising and mobile young defenseman with the potential to record between 50 and 60 points in the right situation while earning just $1.7 million per year.

What's the connection with Christian Dvorak and the Montreal Canadiens?

Here's an interesting observation by L.A. Larivière.

"Sean Durzi is entering the final year of his contract with the Arizona Coyotes, which has a cap hit of $1.7 million. He was traded by the Kings for a 2024 2nd round pick, that was acquired in the Christian Dvorak trade with the Canadiens"

Ouch.

The exchange between the Canadiens and the Coyotes involving Dvorak does not age very well, especially now that Arizona has made a huge move with yesterday's trade.

It now looks like this:

TO MONTREAL:

Christian Dvorak

TO ARIZONA:

2022 first round pick (Filip Bystedt)

2024 2nd round pick (traded for Sean Durzi)
