The number 31 goaltender recently said he wouldn't be opposed to being traded if it could help the organization, especially since his contract is becoming a burden for Kent Hughes.
However, his contract could be useful for a team like the Anaheim Ducks, who need to manage the NHL salary floor (and obviously meet it).
This possibility is starting to circulate more and more.
Journalist Trege Wilson from The Hockey Writers recently stated that the Canadiens could trade Carey Price as early as this season.
Price, who has two seasons left on his contract with an annual salary of $10.5 million, is indeed among Wilson's bold predictions.
Of course, Kent Hughes has the option to simply place Price's contract on the long-term injured reserve list, but it still complicates cap management and imposes certain restrictions.
In addition to the Anaheim Ducks, the San Jose Sharks, Calgary Flames, and Detroit Red Wings are near the salary floor. These organizations could benefit from Carey Price's contract.
It's a possibility to keep in mind and a situation to watch, especially if the Canadiens want to end their rebuild next summer and start spending more to improve their lineup.
What about you, would you be disappointed if Kent Hughes traded Carey Price's contract, as he did with Shea Weber?
