Edmonton Oilers insider confirms the team is working on two trades: the Canadiens have been linked
The Oilers Access page, an Edmonton-based media outlet, has just confirmed that the general manager of the Edmonton team is working on two trades.
Don't be surprised if an announcement happens by the end of the week, or at the latest, by this Monday.
It should be noted that the Oilers are obligated to make a trade if they want to match the offer sheet submitted by the St. Louis Blues for defenseman Philip Broberg. (In the case of Dylan Holloway, it's less necessary)
That being said, you can guess that this is a situation being closely monitored by the Montreal Canadiens, because Kent Hughes is one of the few NHL GMs who can help the Oilers.
He is definitely a target for the Oilers, especially with his history of similar trades (Sean Monahan, Casey DeSmith, Jeff Petry, and others).
The Canadiens could, for example, acquire Cody Ceci + a late first-round pick in exchange for future considerations, and then trade Ceci later. (as Hughes did with Jeff Petry and Casey DeSmith in 2023)

This is a major situation to follow in the coming days, but clearly, the phones are busy in Edmonton on the NHL trade market.

Brett Kulak, 30, is a left-handed defenseman signed at $2.75 million per year until 2026.
