As you know, among the players who have been really impressive for the Montreal Canadiens this season, there is certainly the Quebecois goalie Samuel Montembeault.
He has shown that he has the potential to take on greater responsibilities and could, unexpectedly, start next season as the clear number one goalie for the Habs.
In fact, according to fans, the choice is easy.
The TVA Sports network has just released a concerning publication for Allen. It basically shows that he no longer has the support of fans as the #1 goalie.
The TVA Sports publication in question reports on a survey that goes like this:
« Who will be the number one goalie of the team next year, according to the fans?»
Verdict: only 6.9% of fans voted for Jake Allen.
Otherwise, 60.3% of fans voted for Montembeault, while 32.8% believe that it will be a new goalie that Kent Hughes will acquire this summer. (like a Yaroslav Askarov, for example)
Montembeault, 26, played in 40 games this season. He maintained a record of 16-19-3, a goals against average of 3.42 and a save percentage of 0.901.
The details are here:
Obviously, this is not what Allen wanted, but the good news is that he is a great teammate and veteran who will accept his role in any case.
