This is clearly not what fans of the team, who are favored to win the Stanley Cup this season, were hoping for.
Sweeney announced that Patrice Bergeron, the heart and soul of the Bruins, is uncertain to be in his position to start the 2023 playoffs.
He did not participate in today's practice session, and the upper-body injury he sustained in the last game against the Montreal Canadiens appears to be more serious than initially thought.
One thing is certain, Bergeron is not at 100%, and this is not a great way to start the playoffs.
Knowing how much of a true warrior he is and how high his pain tolerance is, for him to be at risk of missing tomorrow's game shows that there must be something seriously bothering him.
This is a situation to keep a close eye on.
For now, Pavel Zacha is replacing Bergeron as the Bruins' top center.
If Bergeron is forced to miss the start of the playoffs, and if he does not return to 100% relatively quickly, it would obviously be a massive blow for Boston.
