In the last few seconds, the New York Rangers have placed the name of forward Jonny Brodzinski on waivers.
He is now available for free, and at this point, with the glaring lack of available players in Montreal and Laval, expect Kent Hughes to claim him.
Brodzinski, 29, is a former fifth round pick in 2013
In 16 games this season, he has two points, while adding nine points in 17 AHL games. He has played 100 career NHL games (with the Kings, Sharks and Rangers)
He will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
With the addition of Cole Caufield to the injury list, the Habs will have to fill out jerseys by the end of the season and this could be a short-term solution.
Many reporters have mentioned this morning that we should expect to see Kent Hughes active. (by necessity)
More details will follow.
