Several names are circulating on the trade market and these transactions are taking place. Names like Artturi Lehkonen, Tyler Toffoli, Alexander Romanov, Ben Chiarot, Brett Kulak, Shea Weber, Jeff Petry (among others) have been traded.
You'll notice that there are several defensemen on this list.
When you take a step back, you quickly realize that a lot has changed in just one year.
As Marco Normandin reports, several players have indeed left since the Habs won the Eastern Conference Finals before facing the Tampa Bay Lightning for a shot at the Stanley Cup.
So one internet user posted a photo of Joel Edmundson that says it all.
On the picture in question, Edmundson poses with the rest of the CH's defensive brigade, a year ago, around the Clarence Campbell trophy (given to the Eastern finals champion team).
Check out the result:
As you can see, only the defensemen who are still with the Habs have been left in color. (the others are in black and white)
The result? Edmundson is the only player in color, giving the impression that he is posing with ghosts.
Jon Merrill, Alexander Romanov, Shea Weber, Ben Chiarot, Jeff Petry, Erik Gustafsson, Xavier Ouellet and Brett Kulak are all no longer with the Tricolore.
Big changes have been made on defense in a few months, and we see it clearly here.
