An interesting proposal for the Montreal Canadiens organization

As of today, the return of Martin St-Louis behind the bench of the Montreal Canadiens has still not been confirmed. There are rumors, however, that an announcement will be made in the next few days in this matter, as Hughes and Gorton were too busy evaluating prospects in Finland at the World Championships and currently in Buffalo at the NHL Combine.

Many would like to see the young head coach have a veteran coach by his side to help him learn. Of course, there has been talk of former St. Louis head coach John Tortorella, but the latest rumors about him point more towards a return behind the bench as a head coach, not an assistant.

To make up for that lack of experience, columnist for HEOTP, Andrew Zadarnowski, went with a nice proposal.

"I'm not saying it's a must, but I'd like to see the #Habs add a veteran coach to the hockey operations team, not to be behind the bench, but to specialize in adaptive tactics and strategies, as a reference for the Tricolore and the #Rocket coaching staff." - Andrew Zadarnowski

This is a great idea and would help maintain continuity between the Rocket and the CH as well as bring a new dimension to the organization. We remember that Martin St-Louis had, at the time, done a bit of the same thing by being hired by Tortorella to help the Blue Jackets with their five-man attack.

It will be interesting to see what direction St-Louis will take, if he is back, for the next season. During the review, he had mentioned that all of his assistants (Alex Burrows, Trevor Letowski, Luke Richardson and Eric Raymond) would be back in 2022-2023.
