Last night, the New York Rangers caused a surprise and eliminated the Carolina Hurricanes in 7 games. We talked earlier about the impact of this result on the Montreal Canadiens:
But there is a bigger impact on one organization in particular: the Winnipeg Jets.
This past March 21, on NHL trade deadline day, they traded forward Andrew Copp + a 2023 6th round pick, to the New York Rangers for: youngster Morgan Barron + a 2023 5th round pick + two conditional second round picks.
There's some news. Following the Rangers' big win yesterday, one of the second round picks involved immediately turns into a first round pick.
That means that the Winnipeg Jets, following last night's game number 7, acquired a first round pick (the Rangers'). Good news for them!
"As New York moves on to the 3rd round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, the 2022 2nd round pick sent to Winnipeg, in the Andrew Copp trade has now become a 2022 1st round pick." - CapFriendly
