We told you earlier this week, the Montreal Canadiens organization announced that their goaltender Samuel Montembeault has undergone surgery.

See here the exact official announcement:

"Club de hockey Canadien general manager Kent Hughes announced Monday that goaltender Sam Montembeault underwent surgery on his right wrist on May 6. The surgery was performed by Dr. Robert Hotchkiss at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

He should be fully recovered and ready for the start of training camp in September." - Montreal Canadiens

It's not like us to try to decipher every word and phrase, looking for clues of potential big news to come, but here it's too obvious.

The last sentence gets a pretty good reaction:

"He should be fully recovered and ready for the start of training camp this September." - Montreal Canadiens

So, are we to understand that Montembeault will indeed be at the CH's training camp next September?

Remember that the Quebec goalie still does not have a valid contract for next season. Maybe that doesn't mean anything, but maybe we should also deduce that the Tricolore does intend to sign Montembeault to a new contract for next season.

Should we expect the CH to announce the signing of Sam soon? You be the judge, but we wanted to bring this little detail to light.

Would you like this? What kind of contract would you give him?

Montembeault, 25, has maintained a 3.77 GAA this season and a 0.891% efficiency rating. (8-18-6 record) Despite these numbers, he has done a lot of good for Montreal at a time when the team was really in trouble.

More details to follow!
