The Montreal Canadiens have been searching for a new general manager since the end of November. The organization is looking for a sidekick to work hand-in-hand with executive vice president of hockey operations Jeff Gorton.
One of the potential candidates for the GM position in Montreal is Mathieu Darche.
However, according to Elliotte Friedman, the Anaheim Ducks could also be interested in the services of the Quebecer. The Ducks are looking for a new GM since Bob Murray left his position on November 10.
"I think the same thing with Mathieu Darche, who is in Montreal's sights and I believe he is also in Anaheim's." - Elliotte Friedman
They would not have formally asked the Lightning to speak with Darche, but it could happen eventually.
Obviously, Darche is getting attention all over the NHL, so it would be very surprising if the Lightning could retain his services. Something bigger is waiting for him, it's inevitable.
