The 2022 National Hockey League draft is really approaching (in less than two weeks) and at this point, the Montreal Canadiens' management has probably already made their choice.
Will there be a media leak between now and the official announcement? In 2022, anything is possible.
Without talking about a major leak, former Montreal Canadiens scout Grant McCagg, who still has many privileged contacts in the league, has just published an important information:
"I received this text message from an NHL scout this afternoon - "I'm getting several text messages from well-connected scouts and they've heard that Slafkovsky in Montreal, it's heating up tremendously."
I've been saying this for a couple of months but it bears repeating. NHL scouts are much less certain that Wright will be drafted first overall. (Compared to the media)." - Grant McCagg
It's up to you to interpret this as you see fit, but it was definitely worth mentioning.
We rarely give our opinion, but in our opinion, this could possibly be a mistake.
Our ranking would be as follows:
1- Shane Wright
2- Logan Cooley
3- Juraj Slafkovsky
But we also have a lot of confidence in Kent Hughes. And would you be disappointed that the Montreal Canadiens' final pick, first overall, is Slafkovsky?
Remember that this statement by McCagg is perfectly consistent with what a Slovakian agent revealed last week.
