Despite a 107-point regular season, the Bruins were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Carolina Hurricanes. If you thought things couldn't get any worse in Boston, well, another tile could very well fall on GM Don Sweeney's head.
As reported by David St-Jean of Marqueur.com, forward David Pastrnak could demand a trade if Sweeney remains the team's GM.
All indications are that Sweeney will remain the team's general manager. It's a toss-up!
At least that's what a source close to the Bruins forward told Fluto Shinzawa, who covers the team's activities for The Athletic.
Should Pastrnak become available for a trade, there will certainly be a lot of demand to acquire him, as he has one year remaining on his contract at a salary of $6.66 million per year. Since he will become an unrestricted free agent next summer, the price to acquire his services may not necessarily be astronomical.
It will be very interesting to follow this file over the next few weeks. If the Bruins were to start the season without Pastrnak and Bergeron, not to mention the fact that Brad Marchand and Charlie McAvoy will be sidelined until at least December, it could be a long winter in Boston.
