Unfortunately, the situation surrounding the pandemic will have taken precedence over one of the most beautiful events of the holiday season, the World Junior Championship. It is during this event that we can discover the majority of the prospects who are knocking at the door of the NHL.
Despite the cancellation of the tournament, we were able to catch a few games, including the one between Canada and Austria where 16 years old Canadian sensation Connor Bedard scored four goals.
In an interview with Anthony Martineau of TVA Sports, Thomas Bedard, Connor's father, said that if it were up to him, the Tricolore would be at the top of the list as his son's next NHL destination.
"50 years ago, before I was born, the Bedard family was settled in Quebec City. Since then, our clan has moved to Western Canada. That's where I was born and where Connor was born. I only learned about this a few years ago. I definitely want to go back to Quebec one day, so if it was ever for Connor, it would mean a lot to our family," he said of his family history.
In short, Habs fans will be thrilled to hear such a thing. However, the Tricolore will have to go through another year of misery if they want to draft early in the 2023 draft. With his current performance, young Connor Bedard should come out very early in the draft.
