Alexander Romanov is a nice little project for the Montreal Canadiens. On numerous occasions, we have seen the extent of the 21-year-old's talent. You'll have to be patient with him, which could pay off in the long run. This year, he seems to have a lot more confidence in his attitude and his game, which is normal, it is part of his development.
When asked about his impressions of Romanov, Dominique Ducharme put his finger on what Romanov has improved during the last year. According to Ducharme, Romanov is a real bundle of nerves. He has made progress, but there is still a long way to go.
"He's got energy everywhere," Ducharme said Tuesday, noting that Romanov is also a very dynamic individual off the ice, including in the dressing room. He has to manage that energy and channel it.
Romanov's excessive energy can hurt his game, but according to the head coach, it's part of the learning process.
"It's part of the learning process," continued Ducharme, on Romanov. "He has a better idea of that than he did a year ago."
Romanov had been limited to just four games in the last playoffs, which seemed like a penalty to the Russian. However, he seems to have learned a lesson from that punishment. Romanov had a good game against the Maple Leafs last Saturday, despite his team's overall lack of presence. A good second season is within his reach, he will be surrounded by good veterans.
