As we all know, it's unclear whether Carey Price will be back in the lineup for the start of next season. His return to action at the end of the season failed to convince Habs fans that he had recovered from his knee injury, and there are indications that he could be out again next year.

The biggest problem for Kent Hughes right now is that he can't anticipate anything because of Price's uncertain status and especially his $10.5 million a year salary. Let's just say that the organization is handcuffed with number 31 and that makes it difficult to go out and find another goalie.

If the fate of Carey Price was fixed and he was not available for the next season, some quality goalies are available and, as Mathis Therrien, from Dansles coulisses.com, reports, let's see which goalie could be interesting for the Habs.

In one of his latest columns, tipster Jimmy Murphy of Montreal Hockey Now suggested three goalies who would be excellent candidates to come to Montreal.

First up is one Ilya Samsonov, whose name had been linked to the Canadiens sometime before the trade deadline. The Washington Capitals goaltender has been inconsistent over the past two years and it is clear that his colleague in net, Vitek Vanecek, is the man the Capitals organization trusts.

That's not to say that Samsonov is a bad goalie, however. At 25 years old, he represents a great option for teams looking for a goalie for the next few years.

Ville Husso of the St. Louis Blues could also be an interesting candidate. The Finnish goalie had a great season and will become an uncompensated free agent on July 13. However, he lost his number one playoff spot to Jordan Binnington, and with Binnington's contract still valid for a few more seasons, there is every reason to believe that Husso will test the free agent market this summer.

Finally, there is Alexandar Georgiev of the New York Rangers. The Bulgarian goalie seems to be doomed to a reserve role with the Blue Shirts behind Igor Shesterkin, who still just won the Vezina Trophy, and while the price tag could be high to acquire him, he also represents a nice option for a team looking for a good goalie.

It will be interesting to see how the Carey Price situation develops. If Kent Hughes can be sure of his number one goalie's future soon, it would take a lot of weight off his shoulders!
