We have just learned that the Montreal Canadiens have signed intriguing defenseman Madison Bowey.
A one-year, two-part contract for him in the CH organization. He will possibly take an important role with the Laval Rocket, even if he is capable of playing in the NHL.
Bowey could replace a Xavier Ouellet (gone to Pittsburgh) or a Sami Niku.
Bowey, 27, is a Canadian right-handed defenseman drafted 57th overall in 2013 by the Washington Capitals. He has 28 points in 53 AHL games in 2021-22. (and two games with the Canucks)
In his NHL career, he has 40 points in 158 games.
Madison Bowey was notably a solid player for Team Canada Junior in 2015 and showed great promise at the time, but unfortunately was never able to establish himself in the NHL (two 50-game seasons, but that's it)
It will be interesting to see him play in Montreal and/or Laval.
