What does the future hold for the Montreal Canadiens? A rebuild? A reset?

These questions had hardly been answered by the organization, until now.

However, Jeff Gorton gave a generous interview to the Journal de Montréal, where he took the time to talk about the situation with the Montreal Canadiens. He never hid the fact that the idea of a rebuild was never out of the question, and it seems that Jeff Gorton is becoming more and more comfortable with it.

"It's a possibility we have to consider. We might have to make a lot of changes and that might be the best way to move forward."

"We'll continue our evaluation and rule on what we're going to do as we get closer to the trade deadline."

What's to be inferred? There are a lot of faces that could change addresses between now and the trade deadline on March 21.

However, the executive vice-president of hockey operations reminded us that in the event of a rebuild, it will be a process that could take some time. The level of competition is extremely high in the East, which could complicate the task for the Habs.

"There are several good teams in the Eastern Association and there are others that are improving. So, if we go that route, it's going to take a little bit of time."

I am very positive about this rebuilding idea, especially under the "guidance" of Jeff Gorton. After all, he was the main player in the New York Rangers' rebuild that began in 2018. It's paid off pretty well so far.

The New York Rangers are a powerhouse in the NHL this year, they have players like Panarin, Zibanejad, Fox and Shesterkin, to name a few... They also have a pretty intriguing bank of young players on their roster. Courtesy of Jeff Gorton.

When you look at the Blue Shirts, the idea of a rebuild becomes more and more enticing, doesn't it?
