However, as J.B. Gagné of GoHabsGo.com reports, there is still room for speculation about a possible trade that would bring Dubois to Montreal.
By the way, on this subject, specialists have been commissioned by The Athletic to evaluate some trade ideas and there is a proposal involving Pierre-Luc Dubois and the Habs.
To Montreal: Pierre-Luc Dubois
To Winnipeg: Christian Dvorak, Josh Anderson and the first-round pick obtained from the Panthers in the Ben Chiarot trade.
This isn't the first time we've heard a proposal that includes Dvorak and Anderson's names, but contrary to what you might hear, this deal would benefit the Jets in the short term.
According to an assessment by The Athletic, as well as data picked up left and right, to measure the impact of each of the proposed trades, the deal we're interested in could provide nine more wins for the Jets, as opposed to just two for the Habs.
This does not take into account the current situation of the Habs, who are rebuilding, but it is interesting to know that with this trade, Kent Hughes would free up money on the payroll and have an additional $3.95 million in cap room.
That money could be used to sign new acquisition Kirby Dach to a contract, as he just finished his NHL entry-level contract. At that point, no matter how many more wins in 2022-2023, the Habs could be said to be a long-term winner with this deal.
