We are treated to a spectacular and eventful Stanley Cup Final series between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Colorado Avalanche.
There are spectacular plays, incredible stories, miraculous saves by Andrei Vasilevskiy, bad goals by Darcy Kuemper, controversial sequences... We get our money's worth!
In the category of unbelievable stories that can't be made up, we had a good one yesterday.
After the big controversy over Nazem Kadri's game-winning goal in overtime yesterday, Jon Cooper finally got the call he'd been waiting for two days.
"Too many men on the ice for Colorado... INCREDIBLE!" - hockey Daily 365
Officials called a penalty, against the Av's, for having too many players on the ice:
This is pretty crazy. Less than 48 hours after Jon Cooper complained about a missed call by the refs, against the Avalanche, for having too many men on the ice, here's Colorado getting penalized, for exactly that, at the most crucial time of the series so far. (at the very end of game #5)
As they say, you can't make this up. Wow.
"Colorado penalized for having too many men on the ice. Jon Cooper gets his call 48 hours later." - Pierre LeBrun
This is, in fact, probably the penalty that took the wind out of the Avalanche's sails (it was richly deserved, though)
No need to tell you that after the game, in a media scrum, 48 hours after his controversial exit, this time yesterday, Cooper was much happier.
