Slowly but surely, Juraj Slafkovsky is finding his feet in the NHL. The first overall pick in 2022 has three goals and has only played nine games.
Despite playing mostly on the fourth line, Slaf is still able to make his mark. His three goals were all on good shots and he is aware that he needs to use this weapon more often.
Scoring three goals in nine games in his rookie year at age 18 is quite a feat. In fact, in the last 40 years, only four first picks in total have done the same or better: Alexandre Daigle, Eric Lindros, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Connor McDavid.
Slafkovsky won't be able to beat Alexandre Daigle, who has five goals in nine games in his debut, but with two goals in his next game, he could match Eric Lindros' mark of five goals in his first 10 games. He also has four more games to play to tie Connor McDavid's mark of five goals in his first 13 games.
