Ever since the CH claimed his first-round rights in the 2020 draft, Kaiden Guhle has been constantly compared to Shea Weber. This is fitting, as Guhle has taken the CH captain as his role model and has for quite some time.

The Canadiens' youngster gave a great interview at the Canada Junior Summer Camp for the World Junior Hockey Championships.

Guhle has been following the Canadiens' playoffs closely. Yes, he was drafted by the team, and he certainly watched every move the number 6 made. There's no doubt about it, Guhle idolizes Shea Weber and that's understandable.

"I had the chance to watch the Canadiens in the playoffs, including Shea Weber. He's been able to play every series, even with major injuries. That's the kind of example I'd like to set as a leader too. He doesn't have to say much to perform well, because he does everything the right way."

Guhle is being tapped to captain Team Canada Junior at the upcoming World Junior Hockey Championship next winter. He is already the captain of the Prince Albert Raiders, his WHL junior team. He has likely taken a lot of notes on Shea Weber in hopes of becoming a leader like him.

He reflected on Canada's loss in last year's gold medal game to the United States. For those who wondered if Guhle had moved on, think again.

"Don't think I've gotten over that loss. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about it. The guys from last year who are back this year are hungry. It was definitely a heartbreaking loss. Any time we lose a gold medal, I think the country feels it for a long time."

Alan Millar, Director of Player Personnel for Junior Team Canada, had nothing but good things to say about young Guhle. You'd think he was talking about Shea Weber at times.

"He's very big, strong and mature for a young man. He loves to compete. He has a lot of leadership. He's even a horse on the ice."

In his interview, I could really see what a very mature young man Guhle is. He has a special, if not uncommon, presence. He seemed very confident, not hesitant, like a leader. He doesn't wear the "C" for Junior Team Canada yet, but it's only a matter of time before that happens.

Here is the interview : ⬇️

I may go out on a limb by saying this, but it would be no surprise at all if he were to become the captain of an NHL team one day, whether it be in Montreal or elsewhere.
