Montreal Canadiens' GM Kent Hughes had a press conference this morning to answer questions about the trade with the Calgary Flames, involving Tyler Toffoli.
In the end, without much surprise, he was questioned on several other things, including the upcoming transaction of Ben Chiarot.
Several fans wrote to us to give good arguments for NOT trading the veteran defenseman. Several fans were still hopeful that Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton would decide to keep him and extend his contract, so that he could be part of the solution for the next few years. Now, you can forget that.
Kent Hughes has just confirmed there will be an upcoming trade involving Ben Chiarot.
There is no ambiguity regarding Chiarot's future in Montreal: he will be traded by March 21. (trade deadline)
Hughes didn't want to give a too specific date, but it was clear: he will be traded. It could be today, tomorrow, or in two weeks.
Do you agree with this decision?
