Kent Hughes traded Cam Hillis to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenseman Nicolas Beaudin.
Since then, Beaudin has been doing very well with the Laval Rocket, and the former Hawks first round pick is proving more and more that he has the potential to eventually become a solid NHL defenseman (as his first round pick status indicates).
Beaudin already has 12 points in 14 games with the Rocket.
He is currently the sixth best defenseman in the AHL in points per game and is in excellent company in this list:

Meanwhile, Cam Hillis is still in the ECHL.
Clearly, this trade is further proof that Kent Hughes knows how to make good trades and sniff out good opportunities, while Beaudin was acquired for next to nothing.
According to many experts, we can already qualify this transaction as a theft from the Habs.
We love it! And we're really looking forward to seeing what the future holds for young Beaudin in the Montreal Canadiens organization.
