The Boston Bruins announced they have extended defenseman Mike Reilly's contract for three years. The deal will pay him $3 million annually per season.
The former Montreal Canadien has become an indispensable part of the Massachusetts team. He has performed well on the Bruins' top-4 since he was acquired from the Senators on April 11. In short, a well-deserved contract for the American defenseman.
The 28-year-old collected a total of 27 points (all assists) in 55 games last year with the Bruins and Senators. He also added 4 assists in 11 playoff games.
Remember that in the past, he had a hard time making the Tricolore's lineup on a regular basis.
He was obviously not one of Claude Julien's favorites. The Montreal Canadiens traded him to the Senators for Andy Sturz and a fifth round pick in 2021.
