During the last playoffs, many were unhappy with the way the Lightning got around the salary cap. Tampa Bay was over $17 million over it during the playoffs.
In particular, it was the calculated or not return of forward Nikita Kucherov that caused a reaction. The Russian had not played a single regular season game before returning top shape for the spring ball.
During the off-season, several Lightning players taunted hockey fans who accused Tampa Bay of skirting the rules.
One of those players is Russian Mikhail Sergachev. The 23-year-old defenseman had been very active on social networks after the Stanley Cup win, trashing Canadiens fans in the process.
Now, the former first round pick of the Habs has made another statement in the same vein, but this time about Nikita Kucherov's most recent injury.
"Kucherov will rest a little bit, he will be ready for the Olympics and for the playoffs. He'll be okay."
So it seems that Sergachev is not done taunting the Tampa Bay Lightning "haters".
Remember that Kucherov had to leave the game against the Capitals because of a lower body injury, and he was just placed on the long-term injury list.
