Twenty years ago today, on April 9, 2002, the Molson Centre experienced one of the most emotional moments in its history. Before the game against the Ottawa Senators, the captain at the time, Saku Koivu, returned to the game after missing the first 79 games of the season to undergo treatment for non-Hodgkin's cancer.
Fans had not forgotten their captain as he received a standing ovation that lasted nearly nine minutes.
Koivu appeared 13 times on the ice for a total of 8 minutes and 22 seconds. He was named the game's first star in the 4-3 win that clinched the CH's playoff berth for the first time in four years.
The organization did not forget this day as it presented, via social networks, a nice tribute to its former captain.
Thanks to our friends at RDT for getting their hands on this.
