In the last few hours, the Montreal Canadiens announced that they had acquired young defenseman Nicolas Beaudin from the Chicago Blackhawks.

To help you get to know this new acquisition better, see a good summary:

Beaudin is a 23-year-old left-handed defenseman who is mobile, has good offensive instincts, has very good potential and needed a fresh start.

He is a native of Chateauguay, Quebec and has two goals and six points in his NHL career (in 22 games).

He was actually selected in the first round by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2018 (27th overall) and has 10 points in 9 games in the AHL in 2021.

Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton just acquired this recent first round pick in a one-for-one trade for a player who has been playing for the Trois-Rivières Lions for the past two years (in the ECHL).

It's nothing against Hillis, but it seems like a great move for the Montreal Canadiens, in terms of value and potential. Especially considering this:

Who do you think won the trade? Do you think it was a Kent Hughes steal?

Do you think Beaudin can replace Chris Wideman in the lineup and on the first power play? Stay tuned!
