While the Edmonton Oilers have added a lot of pieces over the past year, especially via the draft, some of their prospects that took a little longer to develop are in a bind, and they could use a fresh start.

As Rob Couch of TheHockeyWriters.com reports, four Oilers prospects could be traded soon.

- Dmitri Samorukov

- Raphael Lavoie

- Tyler Benson

- Olivier Rodrigue

Let's focus on two interesting Quebec players: Lavoie and Rodrigue.

Raphael Lavoie, a 21-year-old native of Chambly, was drafted 38th overall in 2019 by the Edmonton Oilers, but prior to the draft he was considered a first-round pick.

He had 26 points in 56 AHL games in 2021-2022 and 14 points in 25 games the year before.

Olivier Rodrigue, a 22-year-old Chicoutimi native, was drafted 62nd overall in 2018 by the Oilers, and was considered one of the best goalies of his draft.

Last season, he maintained an AHL-worst .886 save percentage, a 3.09 goals-against average and a 6-5-2 record.

If the Oilers were to give up these two talented young Quebecers for their new acquisitions via the draft and some trades, Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens would have to look into it, many say.

The six-foot-four centre and the talented goaltender could add depth to the Montreal Canadiens' prospects, as well as being interesting additions for the Laval Rocket.

They have a lot of potential, they remain two interesting youngsters, and the asking price would not be high.

Knowing how active he is, and that he would love to add (among others) a young goalie, do you think Kent Hughes should try to acquire Raphael Lavoie as well as Olivier Rodrigue?

It seems like a great trade possibility, or at least a great opportunity.

In exchange, Hughes could offer other prospects further down the CH organization's hierarchy and/or later draft picks.

For Lavoie and Rodrigue, it could be interesting to continue their development close to home.

Be careful here, we are not saying that Lavoie and Rodrigue will be traded to Montreal soon, simply that some observers believe that they could be traded soon by the Edmonton Oilers, and we believe (as many are currently mentioning) that it could be a great opportunity for Kent Hughes and the CH, at the right price of course.

Do you agree?
