Why? It's been flying under the radar, but historically in the NHL, the month of September is extremely fertile in twists and turns.
At a time of year when there is a lot of rumor and speculation, some fans want to hold on to something more concrete, well here is something concrete.
SEPTEMBER'S CH AND NHL HISTORY
September 2018:
On September 13, Erik Karlsson is traded from the Ottawa Sens to the San Jose Sharks (along with Francis Perron), for Josh Norris, Rudolfs Balcers, Chris Tierney, Dylan DeMelo, a 2019 second-round pick, a 2020 first-round pick (now Tim Stutzle), a 2021 second-round pick, and a 2022 conditional first-round pick.
On September 10, the Montreal Canadiens acquired Nick Suzuki, Tomas Tatar and a 2019 second round pick for Max Pacioretty (with the Vegas Golden Knights).
September 2020:
On September 2, the Montreal Canadiens acquired Jake Allen (and a 7th round pick in 2022), for 3rd round and 7th round picks in 2020 (with the St. Louis Blues).
On September 12, the Montreal Canadiens acquired Joel Edmundson for a fifth round pick in 2020.
September 2021:
On September 4, the Montreal Canadiens acquired Christian Dvorak, in exchange for a 2022 first-round pick (became Filip Bystedt) and a 2024 second-round pick (traded to the Arizona Coyotes).
On September 4, the Montreal Canadiens decided not to match the hostile offer made by the Carolina Hurricanes for Jesperi Kotkaniemi. Kotkaniemi became a Canes player (for a one-year, $6.1 million contract).
There are obviously several others like this, but that's just to tell you that it could move in a big way, this September. Stay tuned!
Two CH players in particular could soon change addresses, according to Bleacher Report's list:
