We are still waiting for official news from the Montreal Canadiens organization, but in the last few hours, TVA Sports' reporter Renaud Lavoie has reported on developments in the mysterious Sean Monahan file.

"Big development in the Sean Monahan file!"

See the information reported by Renaud Lavoie:

"We thought we could trade Sean Monahan. It's the same thing for Joel Edmundson. He has one year left on his contract, but he's on the list of players the Canadiens were willing to trade this year. We are talking about two players who are still injured as we speak. At the Canadiens' management, we don't know if we're going to be able to trade them."

As for a possible trade involving Monahan (or Edmundson), see what Renaud had to say:

"If they're hurt, you can do it, but you're going to have to put some conditions on the deal. It might be a little more complicated than it was originally supposed to be. The return won't be as huge for an injured player as for a healthy one. It's a real headache for Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton."

Monahan, 28, has a solid 17 points in 25 games this season, his first with the Habs. He was acquired this summer from the Calgary Flames with a first-round pick for future considerations.

Obviously, the big question mark in his case is his health. Let's sincerely hope to get some good news this week in this matter.
