Big news was made official today, the day after Joshua Roy and the Sherbrooke Phoenix were eliminated from the QMJHL playoffs by the Charlottetown Islanders.

The Montreal Canadiens fifth round pick in 2021 had an impressive 23 points in 11 playoff games this season.

Some good news came out today:

"The Laval Rocket announced that they have awarded an amateur tryout contract to forward Joshua Roy." - Laval Rocket

So he joins the Rocket, in the midst of the playoffs.

Most pundits and fans were quick to mention that it will be a great experience for the kid (to be around the club for these historic and crucial moments), but by no means should we expect to see Roy thrown into the fray.

Not so fast, says Jean-François Houle, head coach of the Laval Rocket:

"Joshua Roy will join the Rocket and be part of the team's environment during the playoffs. JF Houle did not rule out that he will be inserted into the lineup down the road.

119 points in 66 regular season games and 23 pts in 11 games with @PhoenixSherbroo." - Patrick Friolet, RDS

Jean-Francois Houle opened the door for the promising young forward to play and take part in the series against Springfield. That would be huge for Joshua Roy.

Just being with the Rocket and practicing, in the middle of the playoffs, will be really rewarding for him, and now we hear he could play!

Definitely one to watch! If it was your decision, would you put him in the starting lineup?
