If we thought we would finally have some answers during the end of season review about Carey Price's injury, we came out of this day with even more questions. Even the main player doesn't know what the future holds for him...
On the airwaves of 98.5 FM, the former CH goalie coach, Stéphane Waite, mentioned knowing what led to the injury of his former goalie. According to him, the goaltender would have been perfectly healthy this year if he had not pushed so hard during the last playoffs.
"If that doesn't change, he won't be able to sustain the load of a full season. I'm sure if he hadn't made it this far in the playoffs last year, he wouldn't have had that surgery, because when I was with him, it wasn't a problem. I think he pushed too hard. If it wasn't for the window of opportunity to win that first cup, if he hadn't had that window, he wouldn't have played. Because of that, he pushed his body a little higher than the limit. [You can't blame him. He won't have any regrets for not trying when he had an opportunity to win, even if it might have meant the end of his career." - Stephane Waite
We understand that Price had no problems with his knee when he was sacked in March 2021. It is therefore his desire to lift the precious trophy that led to the current situation.
We can however understand Price to have given everything during the last series, seeing the unique opportunity that was given to him. He was only three victories away from lifting the cup, and we hope that he can win it soon!
