During his most recent appearance on the podcast «Sortie de zone» at 98.5 Sports, Stéphane Waite, former CH goaltender coach, seems to have put his finger on the problem with Dominique Ducharme and his team.
In particular, there was a lack of structure within Montreal's training.
According to him, Dominique Ducharme has a good structure and he is a competent coach. The problem? Its players do not buy its structure at all, at least not consistently. It can be deadly.
There is one thing that is safe, they have a structure. They are still National League coaches, they are competent guys. The problem is that the players don't seem to buy the structure. If they don't, well forget it it's over!
That has to be clear. The players just don't want to go in the same direction as their coach. Who will end up getting hurt? The players or the head coach? Dominique Ducharme seems to be in place for the rest of the year. However, things are changing rapidly in the world of hockey.
After all, it seems much easier to change coaches, rather than switch all players...
