In the last few seconds, the National Hockey League has ruled on an important date, and we have just learned that the infamous trade deadline day will be March 3, 2023.
A date to circle on calendars, and a day that will be highly entertaining, especially for Montreal Canadiens fans.
Kent Hughes is likely to be, once again, very active.
Interestingly enough, and this raises some questions, the NHL trade deadline is normally always on a Monday, it has been that way for many years.
But this season, it falls on a Friday (at 3pm). This is nothing major, but it is an interesting feature that raises some questions.
Why suddenly put it on a Friday? We don't have the answer, but the excellent Chris Johnston (TSN) will ask the question.
More details to follow!
If the Montreal Canadiens are no longer in the playoff race when that March 3rd date arrives, players like Evgeni Dadonov, Jake Allen, Jonathan Drouin and Paul Byron, could be traded (players who will be uncompensated free agents next summer).
It could be an emotional day!
