The first for whom things are going much better outside Montreal is undoubtedly Phillip Danault from Quebec. He who took a lucrative deal in Los Angeles Kings this summer continues to help his team offensively with a 25-point run in 45 games. With his double against the Wings on Wednesday night, he raised his total goals to 12. At this rate, he could well reach 50-point plateau by the end of the season.
There is also veteran Corey Perry who has been successful with the Stanley Cup champions. Perry, who signed a two-year agreement with the Lightning, has already collected 23 points in 46 games. As a matter of fact, in terms of shots on goal, he has already reached the 90-throw mark, which is already 29 more than his total last year in the Habs uniform.
At the blue line, defensemen Jon Merrill and Erik Gustafsson appear to be flourishing better outside of Montreal. Merrill posted a +15 differential with a total of 13 points in 39 games with the Wild. These are very different statistics from the -11 last year with the CH. In Chicago, Gustafsson also showed a positive differential as well as a total of 14 points in 40 games.
Finally, we cannot forget Jesperi Kotkaniemi who has already reached the 20-point mark in Carolina in 42 games. Last year he had reached 20 points in 56 games with the Habs. Without breaking anything with the Hurricanes, KK must really enjoy itself with its new team in the top of the general classification of the Bettman circuit.
