The sequence that led to Cole Caufield's serious injury would finally be revealed

This is the news of the day in the hockey world, as the Montreal Canadiens took everyone by surprise this morning by announcing that forward Cole Caufield's season was over.
It seemed to come out of nowhere, but then the CH announced that it was an injury suffered earlier this season by Caufield, and he's been dealing with it for weeks.
That doesn't answer the question though.
What caused Caufield's initial injury (the one that led to today's sad announcement)
The answer would be known.

This is not confirmed, but it does seem to be the case.
