It's no secret that Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes was very active in the 2022 draft, trading Alexander Romanov and acquiring young center (and former third overall pick) Kirby Dach.

As the weeks go by, more and more information is coming to light and we realize that Hughes has been even more active than we thought.

After learning that the Habs general manager tried to acquire Pierre-Luc Dubois, here's something new.

According to what Jimmy Murphy (Montreal Hockey Now) reports, Kent Hughes reportedly inquired about young Jesse Puljujarvi during the July 7-8 draft.

Puljujarvi, a 24-year-old Finn, had 36 points in 65 games with the Edmonton Oilers in 2021-22. (14 goals)

He just signed a one-season, $3 million contract yesterday with the Oilers. He was drafted fourth overall in 2016. (Immediately after Pierre-Luc Dubois)

What did Hughes offer the Oilers? According to some rumors, we're probably talking about a pick or Mike Hoffman here.

Remember that in the last few days, Ken Holland (Oilers GM) admitted that he was disappointed with the offers received for Puljujarvi.
