As September is fast approaching, and as we begin to think about the Montreal Canadiens training camp, we have some fresh news about young defenseman Logan Mailloux.
Mailloux's 2021-22 season ended abruptly due to a serious injury. He will have finally collected 9 points (3 goals) in 12 games with the London Knights in the OHL.
THERE IS NEWS
In the last few hours, the excellent Marco D'Amico (Montreal Hockey Now) spoke with the agent of young Montreal Canadiens defenseman Logan Mailloux.
Unfortunately for the team's fans, Mailloux is not expected to participate in training camp.
"His return to practice was scheduled for mid-October. His physical therapists believe he has progressed faster than expected (but he will still most likely be out). Logan is currently waiting to meet with the surgeon to review his progress before making a decision. It is highly unlikely that he will be able to participate in rookie camp and training camp. - Dylan Liptrap"
As Logan Mailloux slowly settles into the Montreal Canadiens organization, many wondered if he would be around for camp.
The answer appears to be no, due to his injury.
Although Mailloux attended the development camp, to spend some time on the ice and to work on getting back into shape, although his healing process is going well, it will not be enough to see him back in time for the rookie camp or for the Canadiens training camp.
Either way, he should be ready in time to (finally) play a full season with the London Knights in the OHL.
It will be interesting to watch him, he is likely to be dominant and have big responsibilities. At the end of the season, don't be surprised if the CH officially announces his contract.
